Is College Worth It?More people than ever are earning advanced degrees, so those considering a college degree must choose carefully.

With the rising cost of education, degrees that add the most return on investment are highly sought after.

The right course of study will not only help you stand out from the crowd, but it should give you a leg up in tomorrow’s economy.

Increasing rates of unemployment among graduates leave many asking:

“Is college worth the trouble?”

  • Nurses
  • Engineers
  • Entrepreneurs (more than lawyers)

Current job markets need not be the only consideration.  Spending a significant portion of your work life means that you want to be doing something a little more meaningful and rewarding. A diploma is essential for many high-paying jobs, but the purpose of higher education—college or otherwise—should include learning new skills, personal development and networking.

You will need to prepare yourself for a situation where you compete with others based on knowledge, not physical skills. Often, those industries will go where work be done cheaper elsewhere.

A degree should increase your value in future economies. Will automation and software change the landscape, making your degree obsolete?

This infographic from DegreeJungle.com discusses this weighty theme, balancing the pros and cons of going to college.
